Francis L. (Frank) HEADRICK "Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in." ~ Henry David Thoreau
Frank was born in Bellingham in 1908 and lived his early years in Whatcom County. He became a highly skilled mason and owned a masonry contracting business until his retirement. He built his own home in Shoreline where he lived for almost sixty years until his death from age-related causes on July 1, 2011. Frank was an excellent fly-fisherman who spent many years fishing the North Fork of the Stilliguamish River where he built a family cabin. He was a seventy-year member of the Washington Fly Fishing Club and was instrumental in promoting fly fishing throughout the state. Frank was also an avid bird hunter who loved hunting in the Palouse with his sons, grandsons, and many generations of Irish setters. A friend of Bill W., Frank was proud of his twenty-eight years of sobriety and made many friends in AA. Traveling, reading, fly-tying and photography were some of his other interests. His family will remember and miss him as an independent, artistic, self-reliant and intelligent man who made friends wherever he went.
He is preceded in death by his wife Gladys, sister Nell Long, and son James Headrick. He is survived by son Robert Headrick (Judy), daughter Lita Shimeall (Bill), six grandchildren; Mark, Kris, David, and James Headrick, Tina Jahromi and Tabitha Frederickson, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank friends Bill and Anita Davies and Providence Transitions and Hospice Programs for their kindness and care. No services were held at Frank's request. Remembrances may be sent to the WFFC Foundation, P.O. Box 639, Mercer Island, WA 98040 and to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing/N.W., P.O. Box 695, LaPlata, MD 20646.
